A 17-year-old convicted of killing a man during a Dundalk home invasion is believed to be the first juvenile in Maryland sentenced to life in prison since the U.S. Supreme Court held that such sentences deserve a second look. The sentence for Latray Hughes, handed down by a Baltimore County circuit judge this month, comes amid continuing debate in Maryland and across the nation about whether juveniles charged as adults should be sent away for life.
