Baltimore County will close 37 schools on Friday, and perhaps early next week, under a recently adopted policy requiring schools without air conditioning to be closed when the heat index is forecast to reach at least 90 degrees. The new policy, adopted this month, is being applied just two days after the start of the new school year.
