Smith Out vs. Giants

The Ravens announced Smith would not play in the second half after suffering the concussion against New York.

Smith Has History of Injuries

Smith has dealt with a litany of injuries since entering the league in 2011, and he has only appeared in all 16 games over the course of a campaign twice.

However, one of those seasons came in 2015, when Smith bounced back from a season-ending foot injury and finished with a career-high three interceptions, one sack and 54 total tackles. In fact, Smith accounted for half of Baltimore's league-worst six interceptions last season.

Following the successful season, Smith underwent surgery to have screws removed from his surgically repaired right foot.

"I'm hoping that it doesn’t bother me at all, but I'd be lying if I said it doesn't still get sore just from the amount of training I've already done," Smith said, per the Baltimore Sun's Jeff Zrebiec. "But it's just kind of like with any injury: When it heals, it heals, and when it's done, it's done."

Heading into Week 6, Smith notched 12 total tackles but failed to register an interception and had only defended a single pass.

Should Smith miss extended action, Jerraud Powers and 2016 fourth-round pick Tavon Young project as primary candidates to be the next men up on the outside.
