Baltimore Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs suffered an arm injury during Sunday's 27-23 loss to the New York Giants, per Garrett Downing of the Ravens' official website.

Suggs to Undergo Further Testing

Downing noted Suggs, who left the game after sacking Eli Manning, will undergo further testing to determine the severity of the injury.

Suggs commented on the situation, per Downing: "We don’t know. I ain’t no doctor. We’re going to get it looked at, but you know who I am and what I represent. I’m going to get it looked at and make sure everything is all right."

This is another setback for Suggs, who suffered an Achilles tear in the 2015 season opener and missed the rest of the campaign. An Achilles injury limited him to eight games in 2012 as well, but he has appeared in all 16 games in 10 seasons.

When healthy, the six-time Pro Bowler is one of the best linebackers in the NFL. The 2011 Associated Press Defensive Player of the Year and 2003 Associated Press Defensive Rookie of the Year has also been one of the leaders of the Ravens defense for more than a decade.

He is athletic enough to drop back into coverage and shadow tight ends or running backs on passing downs but also has the speed off the edge to pressure quarterbacks. Suggs entered the 2016 season with 729 combined tackles, 106.5 sacks, seven interceptions, 27 forced fumbles and 12 fumble recoveries in his career.

Baltimore has some options at linebacker to shoulder the load until Suggs is ready to return. It will continue to rely on C.J. Mosley and Zach Orr on the inside while turning to Elvis Dumervil, Za’Darius Smith and Albert McClellan on the outside.

Dumervil is a proven difference-maker as a five-time Pro Bowler and two-time first-team All-Pro, while McClellan appeared in 13 contests last season. Smith, who entered the league in 2015, will likely have more of an opportunity to make an impact for the Ravens while Suggs recovers.

While there are enough pieces for Baltimore to remain afloat, the team needs Suggs back as it attempts to challenge for a postseason berth.
