Ravens head coach John Harbaugh told Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun he doesn't think Dumervil will be out for the season, but he has "been shut down for now."
No timetable for a return has been disclosed as of yet.
The injury issues continue for Dumervil, who sat out the first three games of the season while recovering from offseason foot surgery.
Upon his return, which lasted all but two games, the 11-year veteran didn't record a single defensive statistic, according to Pro-Football-Reference.
He's been one of the most unstoppable pass-rushers at times, although he's been somewhat inconsistent.
Two years ago in 2014, Dumervil put up 17 sacks for the second time in his career. But he followed it up with just six last season despite starting all 16 games.
Regardless, he entered the 2016 season with 96 career sacks, which ranked eighth among all active players and 38th in NFL history.
Now with Dumervil gone once again, the Ravens defense will rely on the All-Pro, though aging, Terrell Suggs, who is 34 years old. Elsewhere, C.J. Mosley and Zach Orr will continue to carry the inside linebacker roles.
But without one of their most talented pass-rushers, the Ravens might have a problem when it comes to playing the likes of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cincinnati Bengals. The two division rivals hold vaunted passing games with some of the best receivers in the game in Antonio Brown and A.J. Green, respectively.
If the Ravens cannot get to the quarterback, they'll have a problem finding success in the AFC North.
