Chuck Clark NFL Draft 2017: Scouting Report for Baltimore Ravens' Pick
Height | Weight | 40 Time | Arm Length | Hand Size | 3-Cone |
6'0" | 208 lbs | 4.54s | 32 ¼" | 9" | 6.85s |
POSITIVES
A three-year starter at Virginia Tech, playing both free safety and cornerback, Chuck Clark has the size NFL teams want. He's an experienced tackler with the range, instincts and toughness to be a threat against the run. Clark can flash explosiveness and is an aggressive player on the field. His range and his lateral pursuit are pro-quality. He's fiery on the field, and his teammates feed off his energy. Playing cornerback, Clark has the length and size to get physical at the line of scrimmage. He's comfortable in zone coverage. Teams will like Clark's size and his versatility, and with his tackling skills, he could be a valuable addition on special teams.
NEGATIVES
Clark posted just two interceptions in college—a shocking lack of ball skills from a 40-game starter. He doesn't show great fluid ability in his backpedal and can get tall and stiff in man coverage. His instincts as a cover man aren't developed, and he may shuttle back to free safety, where he can play better keeping the ball in front of him. He'll get sucked into biting on misdirection and lives with his eyes in the backfield. Clark doesn’t have the recovery speed to make mistakes in coverage.
PRO COMPARISON: Demetrius McCray, Seattle Seahawks
FINAL GRADE: 5.30/9.00 (Backup Caliber—Round 6)

Jermaine Eluemunor NFL Draft 2017: Scouting Report for Baltimore Ravens' Pick
Height | Weight | 40 Time | Arm Length | Hand Size |
6'4" | 332 lbs | 5.22s | 33 ¼" | 9 ½" |
POSITIVES
Jermaine Eluemunor's biggest asset is his strength. Just a one-year starter at Texas A&M, the power he shows playing both right guard and right tackle will open your eyes. His punch, his base and his pure field strength are top-tier. Backing this up, Eluemunor rocked out 34 reps of 225 pounds at the combine.
His field strength is equally impressive, and Eluemunor will be able to move NFL defenders at the point of attack. His footwork is good enough to make a projection to NFL-level. He can slide and mirror and does a good job of getting turned on pulls and traps when playing guard. One of his biggest strengths may also be his relative newness to playing. Eluemunor started one year of SEC football and has room to develop.
NEGATIVES
With just one year of experience, Eluemunor needs time to grow and learn as a blocker. He's a more natural fit at right tackle but could easily play guard in the pros. Hand and arm size were an issue when Eluemunor was measured. He has just 33 ¼-inch arms and 9 ½-inch hands—both are technically over the threshold but aren't great for a 6'4", 332-pound player. Eluemunor appears heavy-footed and stiff-hipped at times in pass protection. That inability to play loose in space could mean a move inside to guard full time once in the pros. At tackle, his poise suffered. He seemed to panic and lose his technique too often when pressured with outside speed. His comfort level appears to be at guard right now, but he's still green enough to potentially develop at right tackle.
PRO COMPARISON: Vadal Alexander, Oakland Raiders
FINAL GRADE: 5.40/9.00 (Backup Caliber—Round 6)

Nico Siragusa NFL Draft 2017: Scouting Report for Baltimore Ravens' Pick
Height | Weight | 40 Time | Arm Length | Hand Size |
6'4" | 319 lbs | 5.28s | 33 ½" | 10 ⅝" |
POSITIVES
A three-year starter, Nico Siragusa looks the part right out of the gate. At 6'4" and 319 pounds he has an NFL build with a powerful upper body. Siragusa impressed at the Senior Bowl with his power and ability to lock out defenders with his arms. Despite not having great length (33 ½-inch arms), he's able to latch on to rushers and shut them down. Siragusa's strength also allows him to absorb bull-rushers and stand up to power. He has a great motor and looks to finish blocks. It's rare to see Siragusa struggle to take a block to the whistle when working in a phone booth. On pulls and traps, Siragusa is quick enough to get outside the box. He has the agility to work in a zone-blocking scheme. Siragusa tested very well at the combine with 28 bench reps, a 32-inch vertical jump and a 4.56 short shuttle.
NEGATIVES
A lack of balance and control show up often for Siragusa in pass protection. When asked to protect with space around him, he can become top-heavy and start lunging at defenders. Too often in the pass game the play ends with Siragusa on the ground. Working on his pad height to better play with some spring in his hips will improve everything Siragusa does. I worry about his coordination when asked to move laterally against NFL athletes. Despite good quickness, he's not always under control. Speeding up his hands would be a boost to his pass protection tools.
PRO COMPARISON: John Miller, Buffalo Bills

Ravens Draft Tim Williams After Taking Fellow Alabama Defender Marlon Humphrey
The Baltimore Ravens selected Alabama linebacker Tim Williams with the 78th overall pick in the 2017 NFL draft.
Williams is a high-upside prospect with the chance to develop into a massive edge-rushing asset at the NFL level. He's still a bit raw in other areas, especially in terms of handling his assignment in the run game, but the tools are there for him to eventually become a three-down player.
Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports passed along the linebacker's measurables from the combine:
His first-step explosiveness is terrific, and he's worked to add more moves to his pass-rushing arsenal, which is essential to success against NFL linemen. He's the type of player who's capable of making an impact in passing situations right away.
Williams' overall value will depend on whether he can take the next step to become a well-rounded linebacker or if he'll always be more of a niche player.
He struggled to make consistent plays against the run during his time at Alabama. Learning to set the edge rather than over-committing to the inside will be crucial. He'll also need work handling running backs in isolation after getting a lot of help within the star-studded Crimson Tide defense.
In addition, there are off-field concerns. Michael Casagrande of AL.com provided comments from the defender about being honest with NFL teams about failed drug tests in the past.
"Oh, yeah. I have failed some," Williams said. "A young player, making decisions that I grew from. That's all about life, being a man and owning up to your situations—owning up to your mistakes because everybody makes some. I'm not here laughing around and joking. I know I have something to prove."
At the same time, it's impossible to ignore his potential to become a key contributor on the defensive side of the ball. He racked up 20 sacks in 34 games with Alabama, including 18.5 over his last two years with the program.
Bleacher Report showcased one example of why he carries so much intrigue:
Ultimately, Williams falls squarely into the category of a high-risk, high-reward pick. But given the extreme importance of edge players in today's NFL, taking a chance on a player with his type of skills is a worthwhile investment.
The Ravens decided to take a chance on the Alabama standout, who brings championship-level experience along with his promising tools. It's not a surprise Ozzie Newsome targeted an Alabama player, since they always seem to be high on his list of draftees and they took cornerback Marlon Humphrey in the first round.
Williams will be able to play with former Alabama linebacker C.J. Mosley and learn from star edge-rusher Terrell Suggs.

C.J. Mosley's Contract Option Picked Up by Ravens
The Baltimore Ravens have ensured they will have linebacker C.J. Mosley for at least two more seasons after exercising the fifth-year option on his rookie contract.
ESPN's Field Yates first reported the Ravens exercised Mosley's option for 2018. ESPN's Jamison Hensley noted the Ravens had officially exercised the option.
Despite only making the move now, the Ravens have made no secret they were planning to pick up Mosley's 2018 option.
"I’m sure that we’ll pick up his option," Ravens head coach John Harbaugh told reporters during the NFL owners meetings in March, per Hensley. "I expect C.J. Mosley to be a Raven for many, many, many years.”
The Ravens drafted Mosley out of Alabama with the 17th overall pick in 2014. He has started all 46 games he's played and was named to the Pro Bowl in 2014 and 2016.
Mosley, who will turn 25 in June, recorded a career-high four interceptions and tied his career high with eight passes defended in 2016.

Twitter Reacts as Ravens Make Marlon Humphrey 1st Alabama Player Drafted in 2017
Alabama Crimson Tide cornerback Marlon Humphrey reached two College Football Playoff national championship games and will continue his football career in the NFL after the Baltimore Ravens drafted him with the No. 16 overall pick Thursday.
Ryan Mink of the Ravens' official site liked the selection:
The Baltimore Sun's Jeff Zrebiec, however, didn't see the pick coming:
Here's how others reacted to the Ravens' choice:
From a production standpoint, Humphrey finished his two collegiate seasons on the field with five interceptions, 13 passes defended and three forced fumbles, per Sports Reference.
While that is solid, NFL teams were likely more attracted by his upside. His NFL.com draft profile pointed to his "hard-charging makeup speed" and ability to use that to cut off throwing lanes and cover ground when he is beaten.
The profile also described Humphrey in a way that indicates he will not be afraid to deal with NFL wide receivers: "Timid receivers should take the day off. Aggressive from press with a powerful punch. Looks to intimidate when the opportunity arises. Drives receivers out of bounds and out of the play if their vertical release takes them too close to the boundary. Will not let a blocking receiver punk him."
Bleacher Report's Matt Miller was high on Humphrey leading up to the draft:
Like many college prospects, Humphrey probably needs some experience at the next level before he can be counted on as a No. 1 cornerback like he was with the Crimson Tide, but his physicality and speed in the secondary will serve him well as he develops for the Ravens.

NFL1000: Baltimore Ravens 2017 NFL Draft Preview
The Baltimore Ravens were once one of the NFL’s bastions of consistency, but over the last four seasons, that has not been the case. They’ve only made the playoffs once since 2012 and the lack of winning seasons in recent years has taken a bit of the shine away from general manager Ozzie Newsome’s genius label. Not that Newsome has lost his fastball or anything, but it’s a results-based business, and more is expected.
To get things back on the right track, the Ravens made a few wise moves in free agency, acquiring former Cardinals safety Tony Jefferson and ex-Chargers running back Danny Woodhead.
Woodhead will especially help quarterback Joe Flacco, who has not been his old self over the last two seasons, struggling with accuracy, mechanics and decision-making. Part of the problem is Baltimore’s undermanned running back rotation, which has forced Flacco to throw more than is best for his game. And with the retirement of Steve Smith and the free-agency departure of Kamar Aiken, the receiver corps can’t take too many more hits.
Things are a bit better on defense—the Ravens had one of the league’s best overall units before bottoming out late in the season—and Jefferson will help if they let him play in the slightly reckless style that the Cardinals validated. Re-signing nose tackle Brandon Williams to a massive contract reinforces the line, though the team still has needs at linebacker, pass-rusher and cornerback. The acquisition of former Cowboys pass defender Brandon Carr could be a wash, given Carr’s recent performances.
The Ravens aren’t that far away from playoff contention once again if they get a few things figured out and Flacco returns to his optimal self. But missing the playoffs four times in five years? That could cause career complications for a lot of people who have made this team great for a long time.

2017 Baltimore Ravens Schedule: Full Listing of Dates, Times and TV Info
The 2016 season was a roller-coaster ride for Baltimore Ravens fans.
The team started the season 3-0, and life was good. Four losses later, the team was heading into its bye week with the season slowly slipping away. But the Ravens came back in style, winning four of their next five games and revitalizing the team's playoff hopes. But in one final and fateful twist, the team dropped three of four down the stretch and missed the postseason.
After going 5-11 in 2015, expectations weren't necessarily high for the Ravens last year. But a strong defense—seventh in yards allowed per game, ninth in points allowed—a decent passing attack and the foot of Justin Tucker (38-of-39 on field-goal attempts) kept the Ravens competitive.
This offseason, the Ravens retained defensive tackle Brandon Williams and signed safety Tony Jefferson, corner Brandon Carr and running back Danny Woodhead. That coincided with the release of Elvis Dumervil and trades that improved the Ravens' draft position at the expense of shipping out center Jeremy Zuttah and defensive tackle Timmy Jernigan.
The Ravens have a new look this year, but there is reason for optimism in Baltimore. Yes, the team still has holes on the offensive line and at cornerback, and Baltimore could use another dynamic wide receiver. The pass rush needs to be improved as well.
Then again, as we've seen in the past, if you reach the playoffs, Joe Flacco can do special things.
This is a big season for the Ravens and head coach John Harbaugh, now heading into his 10th season. If the Ravens miss the postseason for a third straight year, it's hard to imagine Harbaugh won't at least find himself on the hot seat. A lot is at stake for the Ravens in 2017.
Let's take a look at what the Ravens will be facing on the path to a potential playoff berth this season.
Analysis
With all due respect to Cleveland Browns fans, if the Ravens don't finish with at least two wins in the AFC North, well, this might be a long season. Divisional matchups against the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cincinnati Bengals, on the other hand, will be tests.
Baltimore's schedule, in general, is challenging but manageable. Road contests against the Oakland Raiders, Green Bay Packers, Tennessee Titans and Minnesota Vikings should be battles. Home games against the Detroit Lions, Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts and Miami Dolphins are hardly guaranteed wins.
In total, the Ravens will play seven games this season against playoff teams from a year ago. Six games, meanwhile, will come against teams that won six or fewer games in 2016.
Pivotal Matchups
Let's be honest: The first two games every fan in Baltimore is probably looking for on the schedule are the contests against the Steelers. Few rivalries in the NFL are more heated, compelling and consistently well-contested.
The Ravens held a solid three-game winning streak in the series when the two teams met in Week 16 last year. And then the Steelers pulled off a 31-27 victory on an Antonio Brown touchdown catch in the game's closing seconds, clinching a playoff berth for the Steelers and eliminating the Ravens from the postseason in the process.
If you think Baltimore's remaining players and the team's fans aren't still thinking about that game and about the chance for revenge this year, well, you don't understand this rivalry. Wide receiver Mike Williams, who has played for both teams, perhaps summed it up best in November.
"It’s a battle for the division," he told CBS Baltimore. "It’s going to bring a lot of hate. Respect, but a lot of hate. No love."

Home on maternity leave, Hannah Douglass, a fourth grade teacher at Chesapeake Terrace Elementary School, had been informed by principal Shandra Patrick that she was nominating her for the Dundalk Chamber of Commerce's annual Outstanding Teacher of the Year awards. Franchot forms task force after beer bill passes
Mike Gill from Gov. Hogan's office proposed a toast to Maryland beer with Peter Franchot, Maryland Comptroller, during a rally at Dundalk's Key Brewing on March 28. Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot will initiate a task force to review Maryland alcohol laws, days after the state General Assembly passed legislation that critics claim will limit the state's burgeoning craft beer industry. On March 28, Franchot and other officials and craft beer enthusiasts gathered at Key Brewing on Grays Road in Dundalk to speak out against HB1283, which altered existing regulations on state breweries.

Maryland brewery issues unresolved in final days of legislature's session
Maryland's brewers - and representatives for international liquor giant Diageo - pleaded with state senators Wednesday not to pass a bill that they say purports to help the beer industry but actually harms it. Lawmakers in the General Assembly have been weighing whether to allow breweries to serve more beer to customers in their on-site taprooms, a change that Diageo calls vital to its plans to open a Guinness brewery and tourist destination in Baltimore County.

Lardarius Webb Reportedly Agrees to Contract with Ravens After Offseason Release
The Baltimore Ravens and free-agent defensive back Lardarius Webb came to terms Saturday on a new contract, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter and the Houston Chronicle's Aaron Wilson.
Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun reported the parties agreed to a three-year deal. The contract has a max value of $10.5 million, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports.
Webb was released by the Ravens after the team signed fellow safety Tony Jefferson early in free agency. The move appeared to end an eight-year run with the organization, which began when the Ravens selected him in the third round of the 2009 draft.
The 31-year-old Nicholls State product spent much of that time as one of the NFL's best slot cornerbacks. His physical skills started to diminish once he hit 30, however, which led Baltimore to switch him to safety for the 2016 season.
He responded by tallying 73 combined tackles, five passes defended and an interception while playing all 16 games in the Ravens secondary.
Webb acknowledged in early December there was a substantiate learning curve following the switch, but he credited safety partner Eric Weddle for helping him adjust, per Garrett Downing of the Ravens' official website.
"Every day, I'm just learning from Weddle," Webb said. "He's teaching me different disguises, and just teaching me how to play safety. You can tell that I'm learning, and picking up on more and more stuff each week."
Those comments came after his only interception of the season against the Miami Dolphins. Fran Duffy of Eagle Eye in the Sky showcased the highlight-reel play:
Although Webb didn't totally complete the transformation from corner to safety during the course of the season, he looked far more comfortable in the latter stages of 2016.
It's a bit surprising the veteran defensive back is returning to the Ravens since there isn't a direct path to consistent playing time. That said, it's a nice addition for the squad as he understands the system and can provide depth at a more team-friendly price than his prior deal.
Webb could end up playing the role of a Swiss Army knife for Baltimore since Jefferson and Weddle are locked in as the starters at safety. He'll probably see some time as both a reserve safety and a slot corner, and he could step in as a starter should injuries arise.
