Access to opiate abuse treatment scarce but increasing in Baltimore County

Access to treatment for opiate abuse increased in Baltimore County during 2016, but more growth might be necessary to keep up with the demand. Policymakers in Annapolis put Maryland's heroin epidemic under the spotlight in March 2015 - when Gov. Larry Hogan called for a heroin task force to investigate and analyze the epidemic over ten months - but heroin-related deaths are reaching record highs across the state and in Baltimore County.
